UIHS Medical Services provides comprehensive full spectrum outpatient services with a focus on proactive preventative care. Our clients range from healthy babies to active seniors and across multiple generations. We strive to provide culturally sensitive care that empowers the client to be an active participant in their care.
UIHS Medical Services is one of the few clinics in California whose physicians provide full scope obstetric services, where prenatal services are coordinated by our (OB) Nurse, and our skilled physicians manage and deliver babies at local hospitals.
How to make Appointments:
Clients are encouraged to call or stop by the clinic to schedule an appointment or to make an appointment on the patient portal
Checking in for Services:
We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Cancellations
If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment time, please call 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule.
General Services
UIHS Medical Services provides comprehensive full spectrum chronic and acute outpatient services with a focus on proactive preventative care. Our clients range
from healthy babies to active seniors and across multiple generations. We strive to provide culturally sensitive care that empowers the client to be an active participant in their care.
At UIHS we offer complete, comprehensive OB care including prenatal care, labor & delivery and postpartum and newborn care. Clients have access to medical care as well as WIC, Behavioral Health counseling, dental services and Tribal Public Health services. Our staff provides education, support, referrals and can also help with transportation. Our goal for all of our pregnant families is a healthy pregnancy, healthy baby and healthy parents.
We offer comprehensive care for pediatric patients from birth through 21 years including routine well child visits, sports preparticipation exams, acute and same day sick visits, as well as comprehensive developmental, behavioral, and psychosocial healthcare. Patients have access to medical care, dental care, WIC, Behavioral Health counselling and Tribal Public Health services. We also offer confidential teen visits for reproductive and sexual health. Our goal is to help keep your babies and children safe, healthy, and thriving.
What Do We Offer?
- A service for those who are wanting to stop using opioids (heroin and prescription drugs) in a safe and supportive way.
- Buprenorphine or Suboxone to decrease withdrawal symptoms and cravings

- One on one and group counseling to help create skills for living without opioids and regaining control of your life.

Partnership Transportation Services:
Non-Medical Transportation (NMT): For PHC members who need assistance to medival appointments by car, bus, train, or taxi.
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT): For PHC members who need assistance getting to medical appointments by wheelchair van, gurney, airway management, and/or medical observation during transport.

Dial-A-Ride Humboldt
Dial-A-Ride is a shared system for senior citizens and disabled citizens who are unable to use public transportation.
City Ambulance of Eureka Inc. is contracted to provide Dial-A-Ride services in Eureka and Arcata. If you would like to apply for Dial-A-Ride or have any questions about the program, contact the Humboldt Transit Authority.

We have a cardiologist on staff that cares for our clients. Your primary care provider at UIHS can refer you for this service.

Laboratory services are available at all of our medical locations.
The Diabetes Awareness Program assists clients and families to prevent or delay diabetes and its complications by promoting education and treatment, community awareness, healthy lifestyle changes, and early detection.
Our Vision at UIHS is “Healthy mind, body and spirit for generations of our American Indian Community.” Our traditional healing team helps us to reach this goal by offering Purification Ceremony at our UIHS Sweat Lodge.

Clinic Conduct
Clients observing a crime will immediately notify the nearest UIHS staff member or proper authority.
Pets that meet the Disabilities Act which is licensed and tagged by the appropriate agency will be allowed in the facility. The client shall ensure the dog is on a leash, tagged as an alert, service or guide dog. All other animals are not allowed on UIHS premises and walking trails. Animals left unattended in private vehicles shall be reported to the local authorities.
Clients are to evacuate the building in case of fire and other disasters as directed. All exit routes are posted on the wall marked by Emergency Exit Plan Maps.
Client Services may be suspended and/or terminated based on client behavior and the safety of all other clients and staff. Individuals are prohibited from possessing guns, knives or other weapons.
Keeping your appointment is very important. If you have to cancel, please call at least 24-48 hours in advance. Providing us notice that you have to cancel will allow us to contact other clients to fill this available appointment slot.
