Job Description

Drives clinic vehicles to transport clients, office personnel and visitors to clinic or other locations by performing the following duties:  Assists passengers to enter and leave car, holds umbrellas in wet weather, and loads or unloads baggage.  Assists with other travel requirements.  Ensures that safety of clients using transportation system is maintained.  Performs miscellaneous errands such as carrying mail to and from post office, when available.  Makes extended trips requiring irregular hours that will be different than the regular schedule.  Keeps vehicle clean, polished, and in operating condition.  Performs daily inspection of vehicle before operation of vehicle.  Reports any mechanical problem needing repair to fiscal services as problems arise.  Makes or causes minor repairs or adjustments such as fixing punctures, replacing bulbs, or adjusting safety items.  Assists with the training of other drivers as may be requested.  Records mileage and maintenance information accurately on a daily basis.  Provides vehicle and transportation reports to fiscal services at the end of each use.  Records and reports missed transportation requests to Community Health Care Services Manager.  May coordinate out of area travel requests with other organizations with approval of Chief Executive Officer or their designee.  Attends department meetings and other meeting as directed.  Assures that quality assurance goals are maintained as they apply to the job.  Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines.  Maintains a professional organized clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.  Assists in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three (3) years driving experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Shall possess a valid driver’s license.  Must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and provide proof of private vehicle coverage.  Must have or be able to obtain CPR certification within six months of hire and maintain such.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS: 1. Basic personal computer skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
